SASKATOON INDIAN AND METIS FRIENDSHIP CENTRE

Established in 1968 on Treaty 6 Territory and Homeland of the Metis, the Saskatoon Indian and Metis Friendship Centre is a not-for-profit registered charity commited to improving the quality of life Aboriginal people living in our community.

S.I.M.F.C. is currently accepting applications for a Receptionist.

Under the direction of the Executive Director of the Saskatoon Indian and Metis Friendship Centre, the Receptionist/Secretary will perform a variety of secretarial duties and responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities: - Taking dictation and transcribing board meeting minutes. - Preparing for board meetings (paper which includes: preparing Agenda, Board reports and minutes). - Answering the phone, redirecting calls, and taking messages. - Greeting guests and clients. - Typing reports, memos, letters, and other business correspondence. - Logging, opening and distributing inter-office mail. - Keeping track of statistics. - Referrals or providing community information to clients. - Photocopying and faxing. - Keeping te bulletin board and website updated. - Maintaining daily time sheets for the staff of the centre. - Editing and proofreading documents. - Logging and posting outgoing mail. - Filing. - Ordering office supplies. - Checking and sending emails. - Placing long distance calls and documenting them. - Registering clients and membership for programs held at the Centre.

Qualifications: Must be a graduate of a recognized secretarial school and a minmum of 50 words per minute typing speed. Secretary experience is preferred. The candidate must also possess computer skills, which includes knowledge of Microsoft Word 2010, Excel 2010, and Microsoft Outlook 2010. Knowledge of Aboriginal language would be an asset. Lastly, the candidate must have an understanding of programs and services we provide to the Saskatoon Aboriginal Community.
